The latest work on the layout
This week the maintenance work on Waterkloof layout continued. Vlakteplaas is a little village forgotten in time, so it still uses semaphore signals to control entry and exit of the station. These signals are operational as is the rest of the signals on my layout. The reason for this is quite simple, during an operating session, the engineer needs to obey the signals and also have the Van Schoor tablet before being able to enter a section of mainline track. Well, an actuating arms on one of the signals broke loose from the mechanism. Now the signals are designed to be removed for maintenance, but it is quite a cumbersome process, so I decided to try and glue the actuating arm back into place without removing the signal. This method worked, saving me much time.
Hopefully there will be a bit more of an update on the N Scale layout next week, as I am planning on working on the control panel on the
public holiday, the 1st of May.
